Rohit is an independent researcher and the founder-director of GradSchule. His academic training is from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jamia Millia Islamia University, and his professional training and works have moved across higher education, research, admissions, public policy, and international relations.
Before founding GradSchule, Rohit spent seven years at Ashoka University, where he evaluated undergraduate and postgraduate applications, including on-spot essays and interviews. He also supported teaching Young India Fellowship courses on history, politics, and international relations.
His earlier professional experience includes work with Delhi-based think tanks, including the Institute for Conflict Management and the United Services Institution of India, and with the European Union’s diplomatic mission in India. He is currently researching strategic thinking and statecraft in storytelling traditions such as the Panchatantra and Hitopadesh.
At GradSchule, Rohit mentors students and works with institutions, drawing on his diverse career trajectory to offer grounded, practice-oriented guidance on admissions and higher education pathways.
Shreya is currently a PhD candidate at York University (Toronto), where she also works as a writing instructor. She brings over five years of experience in academic writing instruction and mentorship, supporting students from diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Previously, she worked as a writing tutor at Northeastern University in Boston, where she had the invaluable opportunity to work with international and refugee-migrant students whose perspectives and experiences enrich academic spaces.
As a published author with work appearing through presses such as Bloomsbury, Routledge, and Leuven University Press, Shreya brings first-hand experience of writing across scholarly and professional platforms. She has regularly presented her research in academic and conference settings across India, the US, and Canada, shaping her understanding of how to develop ideas with audiences’ needs in mind.
At GradSchule, Shreya mentors undergraduate and postgraduate applicants in crafting compelling admission essays, fellowship applications, and academic materials that reflect their intellectual strengths, capacities, and potential.

Balmiki is a Research Associate at the Centre for Medicinal Chemistry, University of Toronto, where he works in drug discovery for cancer research. With extensive experience in chemical sciences, nanomedicine, and cancer research, his academic journey has deepened his curiosity and engagement with scientific and natural worlds. Previously, Balmiki held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto, where he worked as a lead researcher with the Chemical Sensors Group in Prof. U. J. Krull’s laboratory.
He earned his PhD in nanomedicine and cancer research from NIT Rourkela. Alongside his research, Balmiki has spent several years teaching and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students in the sciences, helping them identify their academic interests, explore internships and research opportunities in India and abroad, and pursue their goals with greater clarity and confidence.
